We are incredibly pleased to announce that new talent has arrived at Frission. Although we already go hard and deep on a Jazz tip with our award winning Jazz Pit we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring on board Jeff Michael – AKA Nijimasu – the man behind the absurd Jazz diggin blog Endless Planets.
Jeff’s mix earlier this year for the∞weight set us scrambling to sign him up for a regular spot and we are crazy glad that he is on board for a fortnightly show on Sundays 1900-2100 GMT.
The show will be called ‘Blues Mind Matter’ a big low nod to Bobby Hutcherson’s who released a track of that name on his post-bop LP ‘Stick Up‘ in 1966.
Jeff will be broadcasting from St Louis where he houses his collection of hard to find privately pressed vinyl (most of which were never re-released or are currently out of print.) It’s from these racks that he will be broadcasting to you – two hours of the finest rare and spiritual music – emanating from the traditions of Jazz but touching on soul, folk as well as American Primitive guitar, MPB, Samba and much more.
We hope you will join all of us live on the 16th December for the first of what we hope will be a long stay for Jeff on Frission.
