Part history lesson, part cultural anthropology, dead set bangers.
What do you consider to be the greatest year for music?
The way my show works is that I pick a song or album from a particular era, and every time it’s different, this has reinforced for me that great music is made every year.
What was the first record you owned or begged someone to buy you?
I got my dad to get me Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Chili Peppers. I had access to lots of good records before that but that was the first album I chose to buy.
Name 5 albums that should be illegal for people not to own?
Young Americans – David Bowie,
Purple Rain – Prince,
Talking Heads – More Songs About Buildings and Food,
In Loving Memory – The Paper Scissors (just for my royalties)
Black Sunday – Cypress Hill.
This would change if you asked me tomorrow.
You can put together a band of any musicians, dead or alive, to play at any venue – who, where, why?
I’d just get a modular synth and let it play itself so I didn’t have to choose.
Recommend another show on Frission?
